Questions people ask us

Is it really free?
Yes. Sending images, GIFs and short videos to your friends is free, with no time limit. Premium adds longer videos, sound, creating groups and more text options.
Do my friends need to install the app too?
Yes, it's what shows the memes on their screen. Send them your friend code and they'll add you in a few seconds.
Windows shows a warning when I install it, is that normal?
Yes. Shitpost is an independent project, and Windows warns you about apps it doesn't know yet. Click More info, then Run anyway. App updates are signed and checked before they're installed.
Does it slow down my games?
No. The app idles in the taskbar and only does something when a meme comes in. The overlay is transparent and never grabs your mouse clicks.
Monthly or yearly, what's the difference?
Nothing feature-wise. Yearly works out to €2.08 a month instead of €2.99. Either way you can cancel whenever you want, and Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
How do I get Premium?
In the app, with the Premium button at the top of the window. You pay on Stripe's secure page and Premium turns on by itself a few seconds later.
What if I don't want to be disturbed?
Turn on “Do not disturb”: as long as it's on, nothing shows up. You can also turn down meme volume or block someone.
Does it work on Mac or on phones?
Not for now. Shitpost is available on Windows 10 and 11.
